Start Here: Your First Playthrough Roadmap
Duskfade drops you into a clockpunk world wrapped in eternal night. The game does a good job teaching basics, but it never tells you what order to tackle things. This page is the map. Follow the five steps below — each one links to a deeper guide when you need it.
The 5-Step Path
Read step 1, then jump to whichever step matches where you are. You don't have to do them in one sitting.
Learn the Basics
Survive your first hour: movement, the Minutero, and the eight tips every new player wishes they knew sooner.
Beginner Guide → Step 02Master the Time-Freeze Dodge
The signature mechanic. Roll at the last second to freeze time and land free hits — it wins every boss fight.
Time-Freeze Dodge → Step 03Collect as You Go
Rainbow Ingots, Clock Heart Pieces, kittens, music boxes. Pick them up on the first pass — backtracking is slower.
Collectibles → Step 04Beat the 5 Bosses
Wrath, Sorrow, Fear, Jealousy, Despair — each is an emotional hurdle with a phase-by-phase counter.
Boss Guide → Step 05Finish the Story
Break the four chains, enter the Clock Tower, and rescue Allira. Then chase 100% with the post-game content.
Full Walkthrough →If You Only Do One Thing
Most bosses have attacks that are nearly impossible to dodge any other way. Spend your first 20 minutes in the tutorial forest learning the timing — roll as the swing is about to connect, not before. Once it clicks, the whole game opens up.
Quick Facts for New Players
Start Here FAQ
Should I play the demo first?
Recommended. It's free on Steam and PS5 and covers the opening hour. Progress doesn't carry to the full game, so treat it as a tutorial, then start fresh.
What order should I do the regions?
Start with Mount Cinder (it gives you the Grapple), then Ethereal Forest, Underwater Realm, and Sun-scorched Dunes. After each chain, backtrack — new abilities open previously blocked paths.
Is Duskfade hard?
No — it's an accessible action-platformer, closer to Jak & Daxter than Dark Souls. The challenge is exploration and timing, not punishing combat.
How long to 100%?
Main story 10–15 hours, full completion 15–20 hours, all achievements 9–12 hours of focused play. See How Long to Beat.
