How Long Is Duskfade?
Weird Beluga confirmed in pre-launch playtests that a full Duskfade playthrough runs between 15 and 20 hours, depending on how many secrets you hunt down. A focused story run is shorter, and a straight achievement clean-up is shorter still. Below is the complete breakdown by goal, platform, and difficulty.
Duskfade Playtime at a Glance
| Goal | Approximate Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Main story (light exploration) | 10–15 hours | Follow the critical path, grab only what is in your way |
| 100% completion | 15–20 hours | Weird Beluga's official estimate — every secret, collectible, and challenge |
| Trophy / achievement clean-up (Story Mode) | 9–12 hours | Everything earnable on the easiest difficulty |
If you only care about the story, budget 10–15 hours. If you want everything Duskfade offers, plan for 15–20 hours of clockpunk platforming.
How Long Does the Story Take?
Zirian's quest is to rescue his sister Allira from the Clock Tower, which means finding and breaking four chains to open its doors. That translates into four primary worlds, plus an opening mission and a lengthy final encounter that sit outside those four.
Each world is bigger than it first appears — every one splits into two or three distinct, expansive biomes, and breaking a single chain typically covers three to four zones. Simply moving through one world tends to take a couple of hours on its own, which is how a "short" four-world game reaches double-digit hours.
There is no confirmed story-only runtime figure from the developer; the 15–20 hour estimate is for full completion, so a straight story run sits somewhere below that ceiling for most players.
How Long Does 100% Completion Take?
Duskfade leans hard into collectathon design. The extra hours come from optional pickups scattered across every world:
- Health & Temporal Energy upgrades — resources for surviving later bosses
- Upgrade Gears — used to buy new moves and improve the Minutero
- Clock Heart Pieces — permanent stat boosts
- Hidden Time Rift challenges tucked around each world
- Tailord's kittens — catch them all to unlock new outfits
- Antique coins — spent on cards in the hub world
- Music boxes & Rainbow Ingots to track down
- Vials of colored dye that earn alternate color schemes
- Broken stained-glass pieces — the hardest to find, and the key to the game's biggest secret
Because traversal abilities (zip lines, glider wings, grapple) open areas late, some collectibles are meant to be revisited after you are better equipped. There is no toggle to make collectibles easier to spot, so full completion means genuinely exploring each level.
Does Difficulty Change Your Runtime?
Yes. Duskfade includes multiple difficulty settings:
- Lower difficulty trims hours off encounters and boss fights — ideal if you mainly want the story and platforming.
- Higher difficulty adds playtime through tougher combat and more retries.
- Combat dodge timing can feel floaty at first; early hours may run slightly longer until the timing clicks.
All 26 trophies (PS5) / 25 achievements (Xbox & PC) can be earned on Story Mode, with no currently reported missable or glitched entries.
Platforms & Demo Note
Duskfade is out now on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. If you played the free demo, note that demo progress does NOT carry into the full game — everyone starts from the beginning. The movement and combat practice carries over to you, even if the save file does not.
How Long to Beat — FAQ
How long is Duskfade total?
Weird Beluga estimates 15–20 hours for full completion, depending on how many secrets you hunt. A story-only run is roughly 10–15 hours.
How long for 100% completion?
About 15–20 hours, driven by the collectathon content: kittens, music boxes, coins, ingots, dye, stained-glass pieces, and Time Rift challenges.
How long for all trophies / achievements?
A trophy or achievement clean-up on Story Mode runs about 9–12 hours. Everything is earnable on the easiest difficulty.
Is Duskfade a short game?
No — it is a focused but substantial action platformer. Four worlds, each with two or three biomes plus shared areas, give it real length without becoming a 50-hour grind.
Does the demo progress carry over?
No. The launch version adds content and polish the team wants you to experience from the start, so the full game begins fresh even after the demo.
Which difficulty is fastest?
Story Mode is fastest for achievement hunting (9–12 hours) since you skip tougher combat. For the story alone, lower difficulty also trims encounter time.
How big is Duskfade?
Four worlds, each with two or three unique biomes plus common areas, according to the official pre-launch FAQ — a focused adventure, not an endless live-service game.
Is there a post-game or DLC?
There is no separate paid DLC; the "post-game" is the completionist clean-up of collectibles and challenges after the credits. See our Endings & Post-Game guide.
