How many endings Duskfade has, and what to do after the credits

Duskfade Endings & Post-Game

Duskfade tells a linear story — the developer has described both the story and the levels as played in a linear fashion. That means there is one main finale, not a branching set of endings. But "one ending" does not mean "nothing to do after." A hidden secret and a full post-game clean-up change how much of the story you actually see.

How Many Endings Does Duskfade Have?

Based on the developer's descriptions and the game's structure, Duskfade has one main ending. Zirian's journey builds toward a single climactic resolution: breaking the four chains, facing Despair in the Clock Tower, and freeing his sister Allira from eternal night.

This is by design. Narrative designer Ricardo Chorques Mesa has said the story is "played in a linear fashion" — the emotional arc of grief, memory, and moving forward is the same path for every player. The variation comes not from different endings but from how much of the world you uncover along the way.

What the Finale Reveals

The climax resolves the core mystery of the Clock Tower and the ancient Master Clockmakers who built the world. Overcoming Despair — the force holding Allira captive — is the emotional payoff of Zirian's growth from apprentice to hero.

The Theme

Weird Beluga's stated thesis: "Overcoming the absence of a loved one is not about forgetting; it's about learning to walk accompanied by their memory." The ending lands that message rather than branching into multiple outcomes.

The "True Ending" Secret — Stained Glass

The closest thing Duskfade has to a hidden ending is its stained-glass secret. Scattered across the worlds are broken stained-glass pieces — described by players and preview coverage as the hardest collectibles to find, requiring you to return through each world and "turn over every stone."

Reassembling them reveals one of the game's biggest secrets — a deeper layer of lore about the Clockmakers and the world's true history. It is not a separate cutscene branch, but it is the reward for the most thorough players, and the content most players never see.

For the full checklist, see our Secrets & Collectibles guide.

Post-Game / After the Credits

After the finale, Duskfade opens into a completionist clean-up:

The most efficient route: grab what is reachable during the story, then use the post-game period to sweep the rest. Nothing is currently reported as missable or glitched.

How to See (Almost) Everything

Completionist Route

1) Finish the story once. 2) Return with full traversal kit. 3) Sweep each world for stained-glass pieces and Time Rifts. 4) Mop up kittens, music boxes, coins, and ingots. Budget 15–20 hours total for full completion.

Endings & Post-Game — FAQ

How many endings does Duskfade have?

One main ending. The story is linear, with a single finale resolving Zirian's quest to save Allira. There are no branching outcome choices.

Is there a secret or true ending?

Not a separate branching ending, but the stained-glass secret reveals major hidden lore for the most thorough players — the closest thing to a "true ending" reward.

What happens after the credits?

A post-game clean-up opens: revisit worlds with late abilities, clear Time Rifts, and collect everything for trophies/achievements.

Who is the final boss?

Despair, the fifth and final boss in the Clock Tower — the force holding Allira captive. See the Despair guide.

Are any endings missable?

No ending is missable. There are also no currently reported missable trophies or glitched achievements.

Does choice affect the ending?

Not the finale itself. Choices and exploration change what you experience (secrets, lore), not which ending plays.

How do I get the "best" ending?

Collect all stained-glass pieces across every world to unlock the deepest lore reveal, then finish the story.

How long to see everything?

About 15–20 hours for full completion including the secret content. See How Long to Beat.
